Overview
a CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) session was conducted by Zydus Hospital. Led by Dr Gitanjali Gupta, emergency medicine specialist at Zydus, the session walked students of the Interact club through what to do when someone is in a dire situation and when or when not to give CPR.
Dr Gupta took us through 6 steps, abbreviated as DRS CAB:
D: Danger - check for scene safety
R: Responsiveness - check if the patient is responding by calling their name and checking for pulse and breath
S: Send for help - ask people around for help calling an ambulance and getting an AED machine
C: Chest compressions - they are supposed to be 5 cm deep into the sternum
A: Airway
B: Breaths
We got the opportunity to perform CPR on a dummy to practically see how it works.
